A dry white wine crafted from premium Chardonnay grapes grown in the central region of Moldova.

Chardonnay is one of the world’s most noble and versatile grape varieties. Originating from Burgundy, it adapts beautifully to different climates and terroirs. In Moldova’s continental climate, particularly in the central wine regions, Chardonnay develops ripe fruit character while preserving refreshing acidity.
Depending on vinification, Chardonnay can range from crisp and mineral to rich and creamy. In this style, it expresses vibrant tropical fruit notes, ripe pear, and subtle citrus, supported by balanced structure and finesse. The grape’s natural elegance makes it both approachable and gastronomically versatile.
Its balanced acidity cuts through richness, while its fruit profile enhances delicate flavors, making it a loyal partner at the table.
Château Vartely entered the Moldovan wine market in 1996. From the very beginning, the winery focused on quality and quickly became one of the country’s leading producers.
In 2004, the Château Vartely company was officially established. This marked an important step toward international markets and export-oriented production. Soon after, the winery began receiving awards at major international wine competitions, confirming its growing global recognition.
The estate is located approximately 50 kilometres north of Chișinău, near the historic wine town of Orhei. This area has a long tradition of premium viticulture.
Château Vartely farms a total of 550 hectares of vineyards. These are divided between two of Moldova’s most important wine regions: Codru and Bugeac (IGP Valul lui Traian). This allows the winery to work with different climates, soils, and vineyard conditions, carefully selecting the best sites for each grape variety.
Annual production exceeds 4.5 million bottles. The portfolio combines indigenous Moldovan grape varieties with well-known international cultivars. Winemaking is focused on balance, varietal expression, and regional character.
In 2008, Château Vartely expanded its activities with the opening of a wine tourism complex. Inspired by traditional Moldovan architecture, the complex is integrated into the vineyard landscape. It offers cellar visits, guided tastings, and gastronomic experiences.
Today, Château Vartely brings together scale, technical expertise, and terroir diversity. The wines are consistent, expressive, and firmly rooted in Moldova’s leading wine regions.
IGP Codru is Moldova’s most prestigious and historically significant wine region, located in the central part of the country. The name “Codru” refers to the vast forests that surround and protect the vineyards, creating a naturally moderated microclimate ideal for high-quality viticulture.
Codru benefits from a moderate continental climate with balanced seasonal variation.
Summers are warm but not excessively hot, while autumns are long and relatively dry, allowing for slow, even ripening.
The surrounding forests reduce extreme temperature fluctuations and protect vines from harsh winter winds.
Annual rainfall is higher here than in southern Moldova, contributing to freshness and aromatic precision in the wines.
The region is dominated by chernozem soils, often mixed with limestone and clay-limestone subsoils.
These soils offer good drainage while maintaining sufficient water reserves.
Limestone components contribute to mineral tension and structural finesse, particularly in white wines.
Vineyards are planted on rolling hills at elevations between 150–300 meters.
Sloped sites ensure optimal sun exposure and air circulation, helping maintain grape health and balanced ripening.
Codru is especially known for high-quality white wines and sparkling bases, (Feteasca Regala, Viorica, Riesling) but also elegant reds.
